1873 ‘Sale of Coffee Land’

The January 16th 1873 Edition of the ‘Overland Ceylon Observer’, page 28 in an article titled “Sale of Coffee Land” announces:

We learn that Mr. Churchward has disposed of his recently purchased block of land in Maskeliya, to Major Transchell. The total extent is 288 acres of which 150 acres have been felled, and the purchase amount is £2000 – the block having been bought from the Crown six months ago for £1900, – and the purchaser becomes responsible for most of the expenditure since.
