According to one news report and another news report, Scottish scientists have discovered a calendar at Warren Field, Crathes, Aberdeenshire that started being used 10,000 years ago.
The twelve pits in ground correlate to lunar months, a concept that was previously thought to have been only invented 5,000 years ago in the Middle East.
Did the understanding necessary to create and use this structure originate in Scotland or was it common knowledge? If common knowledge, could it be a vestige of an earlier time, when humans had an even greater understanding of the earth around them?
Now that archaeologists know what to look for, perhaps more of these structures will be found and push the date back even further.
Have a great day.
